Something I learned because of this card: Merrifield led the American League in stolen bases last year with 34. That is the fewest for a league leader since Luis Aparicio led with 31 in 1962. National Championship teammate of Jackie Bradley Jr. with the 2010 University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
This is Merrifield's Opening Day set debut.
Merrifield was in Series 1 and the Factory Team Set card but the fielding photo above was used on both. The above card is his flagship debut as well despite having rookie cards in Heritage and Topps Now in 2016.
Cubs Ties?: None
I get way too excited when the photo is different. :-)
ReplyDeleteMe too. If Topps doesn't change the design, at least choosing a different photo placates me.
