As this is a rookie card, Buehler has no Opening Day cards from prior seasons.

However, as  I mentioned in my Sunday Stats post about the rookies, Buehler has a different card for Series 1. Still horiztonal, but this time at home. Buehler was omitted from the Dodgers Factory Team Set.

Something I learned because of this card: Buehler was originally drafted by the Pirates but declined and attended Vanderbuilt University instead, where he was a member of the 2014 College World Series Championship team. He is one least 10 Vanderbuilt attendees to play in in the Major Leagues in 2018 (so far). Last year as a September call-up, Buehler worked strictly out of the bullpen. This year he is a starter.

Something I learned because of this card: Like yesterday's rookie, Verdugo did not begin the season on his team's Opening Day roster. Hard to crack the roster on a playoff team. Apparently he's behind Andrew Tholes on the depth chart, who lost out on the 25th roster spot out of Spring Training to Joc Pederson.

As a rookie card, this is Verdugo's first Opening Day card.

Verdugo was featured in Series 1, but with a different photo, one that was horizontally oriented.
